Who can apply?

• Parents / guardians of young carers
• Trusted Referrers of young carers

Who can be a trusted referrer?

Trusted referrers are usually professionals who know the Young Carer and can verify that they are eligible to apply for a YC Card. Trusted referrers may work for a range of agencies including schools, social care, youth work and health.

In order to be eligible for the Young Carers ID badge, you must:

• Hold caring responsibilities for a parent/carer/sibling.
• Be under 18 years of age.
• Reside within Merthyr Tydfil County Borough.

What do I need to apply?

• Personal details of the young carer, including date of birth.
• Personal details of the person the young carer helps to care for, including date of birth.
• A passport style photograph of the young carer (this can be taken on a phone or other device):

Please ensure the photo:

• Is a recent colour photo
• Is of the young person alone (no other people or pets)
• Is taken against a pale background
• Young carer is facing forwards with both head and shoulders in the photograph
• shows full face
